Here's where you'll find things that appeal to me. Inuyasha, Little Mermaid, Obey me, memes, dogs, art, photography, food, fan fiction anime, Japan. You get the idea.
Saw this Trucks Discourse on facebook and I’m not part of that world but yeah that one on the left is delightful and I really had no idea just how wasteful and pointless the other kind is until this comparison
it’s so sad that they’ve been selectively bred for size and aesthetics over their health. look at that pushed-in muzzle—there’s no way the one on the right can breathe properly
I love that he apparently got the job because he looked so pathetic that children truly believed he would be unable to solve puzzles created by a cartoon dog without their assistance.
In the early 70s Sesame Street was created with an eye towards educating poor, inner-city children for free, and became a massive hit with all children. In 2016, faced with going off the air forever after facing conservative efforts to destroy public broadcasting since basically its beginning, new episodes became a timed exclusive for premium cable network HBO. In 2022 HBO Max, newly merged with and taken over by reality TV channel Discovery, removed Sesame Street episodes and spin-offs from streaming as a tax write-off and scheme to avoid paying residuals.
Sesame Street’s official YouTube channel is uploading the episodes for free, btw. A lot of creators are rebelling against this bullshit.
As always, America, PBS has you and your kids’ backs.
I also want to put in a plug for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting, spearheaded by GBH in Boston to preserve and make available public funded programming from around the country. More than 7000 public television and radio programs are available to stream through the website, with more than 40000 hours of programming archived and available to researchers and educators through the Library of Congress and GBH itself.
when you’re a child and you stay up past your bedtime you get punished by your parents, when you’re an adult and you stay up too late you just get punished by the ghosts and spirits and demons and such
You might say, “f*ck you, OP. It was the smell of the blood of the woman who killed him.” And true, Inuyasha does say that.
But I’d say, no, it wasn’t the smell of the blood of the woman who killed him (Kikyō wasnt even there). It was something else.
Here’s my theory:
But first, let’s set the scene. We all know the story: Naraku, wily villain that he is, tricks Inuyasha and Kikyō intro betraying each other over the jewel. Inu steals the jewel and Kik, with her dying breath, retaliates by shooting him with a sacred sealing arrow, effectively pinning him to the Goshinboku for all of eternity. Or, at least that was Kikyō’s plan.
50 years pass. Enter this girl:
From 500 years in the future, Kagome Higurashi. She’s pulled down the old dry well at her family’s shrine by a centipede creature. After she seemingly defeats this monster and re-emerges, our little Dorothy realizes she’s not in Kansas anymore.
Luckily, there’s something familiar in her foreign surroundings: theGoshinboku. She races there to find - fate? destiny? - oh, it’s a boy.
… with dog ears.
While fondling said dog boy’s ears, Kagome is discovered by priestess Kaede and some villagers who shoot arrows at her. They escort her back to their village. As things finally start settling down for this poor girl, the centipede from earlier reappears, seeking vengeance and the jewel.
Once Kagome figures out that Mistress Centipede is after her, she quickly offers to lead the demon away from the village and back to the well; the villagers think they can trap the centipede in it.
So Kagome runs back to Inuyasha’s forest. Panic starts rising within her as she realizes.. umm, a giant centipede demon is chasing her in some unknown land and she’s utterly defenseless. Maybe she didn’t think this through completely. She starts imploring someone, anyone, for help:
Next thing you know -
Boom b*tch. (D-Koom, b*tch?)
*extends pointer, smacks tip on panel* notice the overlaid panel solely depicting one of Inuyasha’s ears.
Here’s the subsequent full manga panel, where Inuyasha awakens and makes those comments about “the blood of the woman who killed me.” Rumiko overlaid Kagome’s cry for help with Inuyasha awakening, so I think it’s fair to say those events happened at the same time.
Which brings me back to my theory:
Kagome’s voice awakens Inuyasha.
Why didn’t her voice awaken Inuyasha earlier, then, when she first happened upon him? Simple - Kagome wasn’t in any danger at that time and she didn’t call for help. Sure, the villagers shot at her, but they didn’t shoot with the intent to kill her; they meant to trap/ subdue her. If they wanted to shoot to kill, they would’ve easily done so.
Well, what about Inuyasha’s comments about smelling the blood of the woman who killed him? Sure, he confuses Kikyō’s scent with Kagome’s at first. Their scents are likely similar considering their connection through reincarnation. But he’s able to distinguish between the two once Kagome is closer to him. So, he’s smelling Kagome’s blood all along.
To grant credibility to my claim, let’s look at the manga. Other examples are provided regarding the unique ability of Kagome’s voice to reach Inuyasha in dark places.
- Chapter 77: Kikyō’s attempting to drag Inuyasha to hell with her and Kagome calls out to him. This is the second time Inuyasha breaks through a spell of Kikyō’s when hearing Kagome’s voice, I might add.
- Chapter 474. The Kaō arc. Inuyasha’s been placed under an illusion where he’s asleep and sees Kik beckoning him to join her in hell. He’s crying tears of blood, people. Kagome is in agony watching this, powerless to help him. She screams Inuyasha’s name; he wakes up. They exchange this dialogue shortly after Kaō is defeated:
- Chapter 539: Inside Naraku, Magatsuhi has possessed Inuyasha. Inu strikes Kagome, cutting her, and is attacking Sesshomaru. She yells at Inuyasha, telling him to fight Magatsuhi. When she tries to get Tetsusaiga back to him, she falls. Both her voice and smell of her blood penetrate through Magatsuhi’s control to reach Inuyasha’s senses. He catches her before she lands and says this:
But Inuyasha had feelings for Kagome those times her voice penetrated any barrier between them. True, but let’s not forget this:
Inuyasha and Kagome are soulmates. They’re bound by a red thread of fate; their connection transcends time and space. In other words, an inherent, instinctual part of Inuyasha recognized this connection to Kagome before he actually met her. This is proven by Inuyasha responding to her voice when she calls for help. He wakes up to protect her life.
Is it Inuyasha’s power or Kagome’s power that breaks these spells, etc.? I think this question is irrelevant. Ultimately, it’s their love for one another that’s the power behind these acts <3
